Mission
Statement
Hou-Met,
a local chapter of the Texas Educational Diagnosticians'
Association, promotes professionalism, excellence, and continuing
growth for diagnosticians to provide individuals with disabilities
quality educational services in the Houston-Metropolitan area.
About
Hou-Met
The
Hou-Met Chapter of the Texas Educational Diagnosticians' Association
(TEDA) represents approximately 150 area diagnosticians. We
hold at least three membership meetings each year including
one at the annual fall conference. Hou-Met has consistently
hosted a conference to expand the knowledge base and professionalism
of educational diagnosticians. We use proceeds from the annual
conference to fund scholarships for students with disabilities
at local community colleges as well as individuals in area
diagnostician certification programs. In the spring, we host
a breakfast general meeting where new officers are installed.
Hou-Met is committed to the educational and overall well-being
of every child and continues to pursue excellence in the field
of general and special education.
Membership
is open to active and retired diagnosticians as well as students
pursing this certification and those working in related fields.
TEDA membership includes local Hou-Met chapter membership.
The membership year is from August 1 to July 31, annually.
Please contact any Hou-Met Officer for a copy of the membership
application that must be submitted directly to TEDA for processing.
TEDA membership is highly recommended but not required for
participation in Hou-Met activities and conferences. However,
membership is required for chapter officers and nominees.
Also, free or reduced cost membership benefits may apply to
some activities.
